Tim Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota and a potential Republican presidential candidate in 2012, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Jan. 13, 2011. Pawlenty, who left the governor's office Jan. 3, will launch a book tour at the National Press Club for his memoir "Courage to Stand." In his book, Pawlenty tells his story of going from blue-collar South St. Paul to the governor's mansion, about his time as governor and shares his ideas for the direction of the country and how some of the things he's done in Minnesota might translate nationally. David Philipps will discuss his new book, “Lethal Warriors: When the New Band of Brothers Came Home,” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, in the Bloomberg Room. The army unit from Fort Carson, Colo., once known as the “Band of Brothers” was later renamed “Lethal Warriors.” Deployed to some of the worst regions in Iraq for multiple tours of duty, many of these soldiers suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
