The NPC Scholarship Committee needs your help! We will be judging for the Zimmerman Award on Saturday morning, August 29. The Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship is a $5,000 grant to help an incoming college freshman pursue a career in journalism. Because of the pandemic, we judged the first big scholarship last weekend --Julie Schoo Diversity in Journalism Award --virtually. Thanks to lots of work by our NPC tech experts and Joann Booz, our first attempt at virtual judging using Zoom was a success. Emergency repairs could mean no air conditioning in Club all week
The National Press Building Engineering team discovered a leak in the air conditioning system and began work Monday afternoon to fix it. As a result the whole building - including the Club - was expected to be without air conditioning Monday night, Tuesday and most likely Wednesday as well. The Building informs us that in a worst case scenario we might not have air conditioning all week. Temperatures and humidity will be high during this period so members should evaluate their plans to visit the Club and should feel free to dress accordingly for a non-air conditioned Club.
