Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 'Lost' Speech at The National Press Club
Excerpts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s National Press Club speech will be aired for the first time since they were delivered 53 years ago at a special 7:30 pm event on Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the Club's ballroom. In July 1962 Dr. King became the first African American to speak at the Club. An audio recording was made of the speech and filed away in the Club’s Archives and later transferred to the Library of Congress. No television footage of the speech in its entirety exists. 39th Annual Book Fair & Authors' Night, in partnership with Politics & Prose
The Capitol region’s premiere holiday book event is back for the 39th year! The National Press Club Journalism Institute is once again partnering with landmark local book seller Politics & Prose for a night of pols, pundits and prose. Authors will be on hand to talk to their fans and sign books at this most exciting literary event. Patrons can browse for books at the Club's headquarters from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for NPC and Politics & Prose members; $10 public. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
