Presidential South American Trip
Mr. McLarty spoke about President Clinton's upcoming trip to Chile for the Summit of the Americas. He talked about the agenda for the meeting, including agreements on child education and the maintenance of the rule of law and freedom of expression. He also said that while fast-track trade negotiating authority would be necessary to implement new free trade agreements, it was not immediately required to continue the negotiations for a free trade zone by 2005.
