Dinner and a Movie Night
Members and guests are invited to Dinner and a Movie Night on May 9th in the Reliable Source featuring Academy Award Nominee, Quvenzhane Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. Beasts of the Southern Wild highlights the life of Hushpuppy ( Wallis) in a Louisiana Bayou where optimism and fantasy take her on an adventure to find her mother in the midst of a terrible storm. Screening of PBS' "The Ghost Army"
The National Press Club will be previewing the full PBS documentary “The Ghost Army” on Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Rooms. There will be free refreshments and popcorn provided. Blues Alley Jazz Night at the Fourth Estate Restaurant
"Jazz Night" arrives at NPC's Fourth Estate restaurant on Wednesday May 1. The restaurant will host the event with Blues Alley, Georgetown’s home for jazz. In addition to great music, there will be culinary jazz specials: Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice or Jambalaya, the unsung foods of jazz. The Fourth Estate celebrates Jazz Night the first Wednesday of every month. This Wednesday will have the added element of celebrating a successful Big Band Jam, part of Jazz Appreciation Month at Pershing Park for the last ten days. Postal Service Anti-Competitive Practices
Mr. Kelly spoke about U.S. Postal Services practices which inhibit competition in the delivery industry. He said that Congress should change the law so that the Postal Service operates under the same laws as other delivery services. He also stated that the Postal Service would not be very competitive if it did not have the assistance of various monopoly advantages, such as first class postage.
