Words of War tells the story of world-renowned journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya, whose fearless reporting exposed corruption, human rights abuses, and war crimes—ultimately leading to her assassination in 2006. The film is a sobering portrayal of the dangers that journalists face in the 21st century and serves as a tribute to all with the courage to risk their lives in pursuit of truth. Paul Beckett, former Assistant Editor at The Wall Street Journal, who led the Journal’s efforts to secure Evan Gershkovich’s release, moderates a vital discussion on the existential threat facing Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia and Middle East Broadcasting Networks.
