A Different Russia is the third in the series of Kalb's memoirs. This one focuses on his time as the Moscow correspondent for CBS News. Kalb, who speaks Russian, kept a daily record of his broadcasts on the building confrontation between Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and President John F. Kennedy. Kalb, 94, hosted "The Kalb Report" public broadcasting series for 28 years and 103 programs. "The Kalb Report" was the longest-running and most successful long-term project in Club history. Threshold for parking validation increases in New Year
The National Press Club parking member benefit at the Reliable Source has changed as of Jan 1. The Club will provide a complimentary parking pass at One Parking (1325 G St. NW) when a member spends $35 or more during dinner dining hours at the Reliable Source. Parking validations are limited to one per party. The previous threshold was $25. This is the first adjustment since 2018. The Reliable Source, the Club's hub for fellowship and good food and drink, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Dear Member, To enhance the security of the Club and streamline our membership processes, we’ve implemented a new check-in and arrival procedure. Given the rising threats against journalists, this is part of our commitment to ensuring the safety of all members and employees — similar to security measures in many buildings across Washington. Beginning March 3, 2025, you must use your new member card to access the Club. This card will be used at the security gates and includes a barcode for checking into the Club.
