Damage from gun violence extends beyond the victims to whole communities, "Children Under Fire" author says.

A child is shot in America every hour on average, John Woodrow Cox, author of "Children Under Fire: An American Crisis," told a National Press Club virtual audience at the Headliners event Monday. Gun fire has killed about 30,000 children and teenagers over the last decade, Cox told NPC President Lisa Nicole Matthews. Take me out to the Ballroom: Watch the Nationals vs. Mets at the Club, April 23
Nationals Park may be off limits to all but 10,000 fans, but you can still watch the game surrounded by fellow baseball fans. Come to the National Press Club on Friday, April 23, to watch the Nationals take on the New York Mets. Only 50 fans will be allowed in to watch the two teams square off on the big screen in the Ballroom. The pregame show will be broadcast beginning at 6 p.m., followed by first pitch at 7:10 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online and are $30 for members, $40 for guests. Blacks and the Supreme Court
Participants talked about issues affecting the black and minority communities in the previous Supreme Court term. They talked about the nomination of Judge John Roberts to replace Justice O'Connor who had announced her intention to retire in October, 2005. Among the topics they addressed were the judicial temperament of Supreme Court justices, criminal justice and discrimination cases brought before the court, the impact of decisions on minority communities, and the future of civil rights law. Baseball season is underway! While most ballparks are limiting their capacities for spectators, the Press Club is the next best place to watch the game with friends and colleagues. Fifty fans will have the opportunity to watch the Washington Nationals play the New York Mets on Friday, April 23.
