VOA Journalists Receive Career Support From Press Freedom Center
WASHINGTON, March 28 – Times have been tough for the dedicated journalists at Voice of America. The Trump Administration’s decision to end federal grant funding to the U.S. Agency for Global Media led to a shutdown of VOA and a massive furlough of all staff. It happened in just a matter of days and was shocking. Family of Yuyu Dong (outside of China) Available After Appeals Hearing Monday

Dong is accused of espionage and sentenced to seven years in prison at the trial level, but he and his lawyers will argue for a full acquittal on appeal. Awards
Through our annual journalism awards, the National Press Club seeks to recognize and honor professional journalists who produced outstanding work in the preceding year for the public, either independently or as employees of editorially independent news entities. The Awards Team is a group of volunteers who facilitate the process from publicity to judging applications.
Broadcast/Podcast
The Broadcast/Podcast Team provides a forum for members interested in multimedia, including traditional radio and television, as well as newer forms like podcasting.
Communicators
National Press Club Communicators Team members help further the goals of the National Press Club through their participation in and support of activities that advance the cause of journalism and defend the freedom of the press. They also help tell the NPC story participating in and developing compelling programming and activities and fostering community between current and future members of the Club.
Events
The Events Team creates fun social and professional activities designed for members – and prospective members - to meet one another and interact as a community. Events include documentary screenings, topical happy hours and more. The team welcomes any members interested in working on social events.
Freedom of the Press
The team is responsible for providing and crafting statements directly concerning any domestic violation of the First Amendment or any unlawful international incidents in the journalism community.
