Big names in broadcast news history highlight Freedman inaugural gala, Jan. 18
Edward R. Murrow’s son, Walter Cronkite’s chief of staff, CNN’s Washington bureau chief and the former vice president of CBS News will toast and roast Mike Freedman during his inaugural gala Jan. 18 as the National Press Club’s 113th president. The evening starts with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 each for a member and one guest, and $125 for general admission. Dress is black tie optional. Reporter plans to rap about his investigations of unsolved civil rights murders, tomorrow
Reporter Jerry Mitchell, who spent years investigating the most infamous murders of the civil rights movement, plans to speak about his book, "Race Against Time: A Reporter Reopens the Unsolved Murder Cases of the Civil Rights Era," at a National Press Club Headliners Book Rap Breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 8:30 a.m. in the Zenger Room Tickets cost $5 for Club members and $10 for the general public and can be purchased online. 'The Boys on the Bus' — 12 Elections Later on Jan. 30
Timothy Crouse's The Boys on the Bus is considered the seminal book on political campaign reporting.
