The National Press Club will hold a moment of silence in observance of the fifth anniversary of the murder of Washington Post Global Opinions contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi on Monday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Khashoggi, who was openly critical of the Saudi government in his columns for the Washington Post, was ambushed by 15 Saudi government officials inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and killed and dismembered half a decade ago on October 2, 2018. Washington Nationals honor the late Michael Freedman with scoreboard tribute
The Washington Nationals baseball team paid tribute to the late Michael Freedman, former National Press Club president, during a between-innings break at its final home game at Nationals' Park Sunday, Sept. 24, with a display on its giant center field scoreboard.
