Scholarship Team seeks judges to select winners
The National Press Club Scholarship Team is seeking volunteers in March and April to help judge applications for the first round of 2023 NPC scholarships. The next judging session will be conducted virtually via Zoom over a two-hour period this Saturday, March 18. Judges will select the recipient of The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo, a $5,000 award to a high school senior. The purpose of the scholarship is to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The award can be renewed for up to three years at $5,000 per year. …

Club hires Didier Saugy of Hong Kong's Foreign Correspondents' Club to succeed McCarren
Didier Saugy, the general manager of the renowned Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC) of Hong Kong, will succeed Bill McCarren as the National Press Club's executive director. The Club conducted a yearlong, global search to find its new executive director. McCarren announced earlier this week that he would retire this year. After decades in Club kitchen, Moe Aguilera takes charge
Moe Aguilera has been a fixture in the National Press Club kitchen for nearly 30 years. Now he’s in charge after being appointed executive chef last month following the retirement of Susan Delbert. “I have worked at every culinary position possible for the NPC since I began in 1994,” Aguilera said. “Before executive chef, I served as executive sous chef for the Fourth Estate restaurant for 13 years.” He said he is excited to bring his experience to the new era of top-of-the-line Club cooking.
