Lack of citizen soldiers diminishes military readiness, Reserve official tells Post 20
Without citizen soldiers -- the National Guard and Reserves -- "we can't go to war," retired U.S. Army Gen. Jeff Phillips told National Press Club American Legion Post 20 at its meeting Thursday, Jan. 12. Phillips, executive director of the Reserve Organization of America (ROA), warned that "our military readiness is in peril" because of the lack of citizens willing to volunteer for service in the armed forces. Club's American Legion Post 20 arranging tour of Army Museum
American Legion Post 20, which is affiliated with the National Press Club, is arranging a special group tour of the new National Museum of the United States Army, located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The event, which is being planned but has not yet been scheduled, will be open to all Club members. The tour will take place in March or later.
