Reception on Sept. 7 to follow today's opening of the Club's annual photo exhibit, the biggest ever
The National Press Club's annual photo exhibit will open Thursday afternoon (Sept. 1) with more participants and more photos and images on display than ever before. This year's exhibit has 215 print photos and electronic images from 59 members, with more than one-third of exhibitors taking part for the first time. Club members and guests are invited to the gala reception that officially opens the exhibit on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 pm. Fall Hoot to salute Club's 50th anniversary of admission of women members, Sept. 16
The National Press Club will mark the 50th anniversary of the admission of women as members at a celebratory dinner at the Club Friday, Sept. 16. The event is being organized and arranged by the Club's Silver Owls at its Fall Hoot. While the 50th anniversary was last year, the Press Club was unable to observe this historic event due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. Aquino’s second and updated edition of "Truth and Lives on Film: The Legal Problems in Depicting Real Persons and Events in a Fictional Medium" has just been published by McFarland & Co. The book gives a history of litigation concerning fictionalizations in fact-based films and television and an analysis of the legal issues. Lina Abu Akleh is in Washington to receive the President’s Award from the National Press Club in honor of her aunt, Shireen, a veteran correspondent from Al Jazeera who was killed while covering an Israeli military action in the West Bank in May. The National Press Club called for a U.S.-led investigation into the killing of Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh and honored her at the Club’s journalism awards dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
