NPC co-ed softball team starts season 2-0
The National Press Club co-ed softball team won both games of its double-header Saturday, posting a solid start to the 2022 Metropolitan Media Softball League season. In the sweep, each game was a close one. The scores in the inter-divisional games were: NPC 9 NPR 8 NPC 13 CNN 12 The league said NPC has "the oldest active streak of making the playoffs," at 12. The Scholarship Committee needs your help! We will judge applications for the Zimmerman Award on Saturday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. virtually via Zoom. Participants will have the chance to review application materials during the week before Saturday’s meeting. The Richard G. Club member Thomas Weyr, journalist for UPI, ABC and author of several books, died March 11
National Press Club member Thomas H. Weyr, an author and journalist who spent decades covering the news for both international and domestic audiences, died on Friday, March 11, at his home in Bronxville, New York. He was 94. Weyr spent decades in newsrooms, working for United Press International, ABC Radio Network, the Research Institute of America, and DMNews. An author as well as a newsman, Weyr published books on the history of World War II, the rise of the Playboy empire, and the history of Vienna under Hitler through the present.
