NPC Radio Play: It's a Wonderful Life
The National Press Club, in association with CBS Radio Network and American Heritage Magazine, presents Marty Bufalini’s “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Show,” an adaptation of the classic story of George Bailey who, exasperated by life's challenges, wishes he'd never been born. Granted his wish by his guardian angel, he learns the positive impact that each of our lives has on so many others. Featuring 19 members of the National Press Club covering 43 roles, it premieres here at 8pm on Tuesday, December 21. We hope you'll join us.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and the latest on the omicron variant at a National Press Club Headliners Newsmaker at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20. The National Press Club will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas. The Club also will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, in observance of New Year's. The Club wishes its members an enjoyable holiday season and Happy New Year as an eventful and challenging 2021 concludes.
“This night is really all about you,” Matthews told her audience. “Everyone in this room should be proud of the contributions you’ve made to making the Club a place where news happens, a place that stands for press freedom, a place where people feel welcome, heard and included.”Matthews received 32 names after asking the Club’s Team leaders for Vivian Award nominations. Additionally, she personally singled out six members “for their noteworthy service” on each of their teams:

Berny Krug Award: John Donnelly The 2021 winner of the Club’s Berny Krug Award, which recognizes long-term service to the Club, is John Donnelly. He has chaired the Press Freedom Team about 18 years and is stepping back from a leadership role: “I’ve given a lot to this Club, but the Club has given so much more to me,” he said with visible emotion in accepting the organization’s highest volunteer honor.
