President of Chile to Speak at Club June 4
President Sebastian Pinera will be the speaker at a Luncheon on Tuesday June 4. Pinera was elected president of Chile in January 2010. Prior to his service as president, Pinera had served in government, business and education. He has a doctorate in economics from Harvard. Lunch will be served at 1 pm with remarks beginning at 1:30, followed by a question-and-answer session.The program will end at 2:30 pm. Rob Paulsen, the voice of Yakko Warner and Pinky, the mouse that wants to take over the world, will speak at the Club at 6:30 pm Aug. 1 at an event sponsored by the Young Members Committee. Paulsen will discuss his career and experiences, answer audience questions, and sign autographs. This Week in National Press Club History
May 29, 1941: General George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff, who would build and direct the largest army in history during World War II, gives his first address to the National Press Club. He would later become Secretary of State, then Secretary of Defense, and win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953. Marshall had served as aide-de-camp to General John “Black Jack” Pershing during the First World War. Pershing later became an associate member of the National Press Club, and gave his name to the American Legion Post 20, formed at the Club by veterans of that war. It continues to this day. Many…

As more of our members work out of mobile offices, the Club's 14th-floor work space increases in importance as a member benefit. Because of that, I wanted to take a moment to make sure we all know some good rules to live by so this space can be useful in a professional context for all members who want to use it.
