Documentary film screening June 18 to probe climate change impact on U.S. coasts
The increasing frequency of deadly storms, notably last year's killer Hurricane Sandy, is causing Americans to worry -- many for the first time -- about climate change and its impact on rising sea levels may affect their lives. The link between warming climate and higher ocean levels and its implications for residents of U.S. coastal communities is the subject of a new documentary film, "Shored Up," that will be screened at the National Press Club on Tuesday, June 18. Associated Press CEO to speak on seizure of phone records at luncheon June 19
Gary Pruitt, president and CEO of The Associated Press, will address a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, June 19. Pruitt will discuss “the unconstitutional seizure of AP phone records and the way forward.” Pruitt has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of journalists in recent weeks after it became public that the U.S. Justice Department had subpoenaed two months of phone records from Associated Press reporters as part of a leak investigation. A new report on the threats to one of the world’s most historic cities – the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre, Lebanon -- will be the focus of a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference on Wednesday, June 12, at 3 p.m. in the club’s Zenger Room. Rick Dunham recognized for top political reporting
Add another name to the list of National Press Club members who recently have received recognition for their achievements in political reporting. Rick Dunham, Washington bureau chief of the Houston Chronicle, has been named one of the best state-based political reporters of 2013, by the “The Fix” column in The Washington Post.
