Memorial for Mr. Price Saturday Noon - 1 p.m.
The National Press Club Fellowship committee will hold a memorial service for Andrew Price, former NPC head waiter, from noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, in the Holeman Lounge. Club members are invited to attend. Mr. Price, a much-loved waiter at the Club who retired last Aug. 3 after 45 years of service, died in April of a heart attack. He was 66. Mr. Price grew up in Scotland Neck, N.C., and came to Washington in his late teens, working first as a dishwasher at the Shoreham Hotel and later at the Heritage House restaurant in Georgetown. Club Freelance Committee Launches Searchable Listing of Members
Editors looking for freelance help now have a new resource at the National Press Club – a listing of NPC freelancers on the Club’s website. The searchable list is available to Club members and the general public. The NPC Freelance Committee compiled the list as a way to help connect editors with freelance needs to freelancers with the right skills, says Tam Harbert, chair of the Freelance Committee. “As the number of freelancers increases and as more and more media outlets use freelance rather than full-time help, we hope this list will be a useful resource for both,” she says. Tonight's the (last) night... for lobster at the Fourth Estate
The Fourth Estate restaurant at the National Press Club hosts its final Lobster Night of the summer season tonight, Wednesday, July 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The menu features a steamed 1 1/4-pound Maine lobster with a choice of coleslaw or salad and a choice of French fries or oven-crisped new potatoes.
