National Press Club members -- especially veterans -- and their spouses and guests are invited to a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of American Legion Post 20. It was started at the suggestion of famed World War I General John “Black Jack” Pershing, who commanded the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) in Europe. Worldwide Efforts to Eradicate Polio
Mr. Majiyagbe, president of Rotary International, talked about Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio from the entire world. He focused on Rotary's approach to promoting peace, addressing the underlying problems that create instability and trigger conflicts, such as hunger, poverty, poor health and illiteracy. He also talked about the statistics of death from HIV/AIDS, polio, malaria, and measles. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions.
