NPC members invited to General Membership meeting Friday, May 9; webcast available
National Press Club officers plan to report on the state of the organization at a general membership meeting at noon Friday, May 9. A buffet lunch is expected to be served beginning at noon with the meeting will being called to order at 12:15 p.m. Please RSVP to [email protected]. Press Club member Paul Dickson tells Book Rap Shakespeare invented word for fireworks
April 23 happened to be the anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, an appropriate date for Paul Dickson to appear at a National Press Club Book Rap to discuss his book, Authorisms a compilation of words and phrases coined by the famous and infamous. Air Force chief describes budget constraints at National Press Club Breakfast
Air Force Chief of Staff Mark Welsh described his service's adjustments to budget constraints under sequestration at an April 23 National Press Club Breakfast. The Air Force fiscal year 2015 budget is $20 billion less than projected in 2012, requiring significant adjustment, not just making changes "around the edges," Welsh said. Welsh focused on the decision to eliminate the entire fleet of A-10 fighter planes, saying that cutting a whole fleet was more effective than partially reducing several because cutting a whole fleet saves infrastructure costs.
