Events Committee to meet Feb. 12; seeks fun loving-members
Interested in planning different, interesting and fun events at the National Press Club? You'll get a chance at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 12, by joining the first 2014 meeting of the Events Committee in the Club's Mezzanine. The committee is seeking members with new ideas for events that will bring both members and nonmembers to the Club. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard “Buck” McKeon (R-Calif.) will discuss President Obama's Afghanistan withdrawal plans at a National Press Club luncheon on Monday, Feb. 24. The chairmanship of the House Armed Services Committee, which provides authorization and oversight of the Defense Department and its nearly $500 billion budget, is considered one of Congress' most important positions. To coincide with the opening of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, the National Press Club's Reliable Source restaurant will feature a Russian menu starting tomorrow (Feb. 7) and continuing throughout the games. 'Blackfish,' documentary on killer whale, scheduled for Dinner & Movie Night Feb. 20
