American Legion Post 20 Candidate Forum
Candidates for National Press Club offices will appear at an annual open forum hosted by American Legion Post 20 at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the McClendon Room. All Club members are invited to join Legionnaires in hearing brief presentations by candidates for election. The 10 candidates for 2020 officer and board positions have been invited to discuss their goals, priories and qualifications and take questions.

When I saw the new film, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” I remembered the day Fred Rogers appeared at the National Press Club on April 6, 1990. I brought my five-year-old daughter, Carolyn. Mr. Rogers was at the Club to promote children’s television and highlight his testimony to a congressional committee about the value of an alternative to the violence on television in finding ways to resolve conflict. Traffic alert: Roads near Club closed Thursday for Xmas tree lighting
If you plan to attend an evening event at the Club on Thursday, please plan ahead for traffic, road closures and parking restrictions. The District of Columbia will close several streets around the Ellipse on Dec. 5 to accommodate the 97th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. James DeSantis, retired PR expert and 34-year Club member, dies
James R. DeSantis, a retired public relations expert and a 34-year member of the National Press Club, died Sept. 24 at his home in Boyton Beach, Fla. He was 75.
