FOIA faster: National Press Club presents Sunshine Week event on March 16
In commemoration of Sunshine Week, the National Press Club will offer reporters on Monday, March 16, a hands-on tutorial in getting faster and better results from Freedom of Information Act requests. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Club's Conference Rooms. Sunshine Week is a nationwide celebration of access to public information that occurs every March. FDA commissioner to speak at NPC luncheon on March 27
Dr. Margaret Hamburg, the outgoing commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, will speak at a National Press Club Newsmaker Luncheon on March 27. Dr. Hamburg, the FDA commissioner since May 2009, announced her retirement from the agency on Feb. 5. She will step down in late March. Dr. Stephen Ostroff, recently FDA chief scientist, will be the Acting Commissioner until Dr. Hamburg's successor is named.
