Belkind to pass NPC gavel to Hughes at annual meeting Jan. 16
John Hughes will become the 108th president of the National Press Club when outgoing President Myron Belkind passes the gavel to him during the Annual Membership Meeting, Friday, Jan. 16. The meeting will begin at noon with a buffet lunch. The business portion, which will include reports by the 2014 officers, will begin at 12:15 p.m. Members planning to attend are requested to RSVP to [email protected]. The meeting will be webcast in the members-only section of press.org.

Press freedom and government transparency in 2014 regressed more than it progressed, according according to a year-end review by the National Press Club's Press Freedom Committee.
