The National Press Club's BEAT THE DEADLINE 5K race-walk down Pennsylvania Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 6, is right around the corner. The event annually draws hundreds of participants, and as it draws closer excitement is mounting. Sometimes forgotten in the hub-bub, however, is the reason for the event. By popular demand of NPC Members, the Club's annual Crab Fest buffet is back! New York Times reporter expelled from Kabul to speak at Newsmaker 2 p.m. Wednesday
New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg, who was expelled from Kabul last week but whom the two presidential candidates said they would allow back into Afghanistan, will speak at a National Press Club Newsmaker news Conference at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the Zenger Room. National Press Club applauds Afghanistan candidates for statements on expelled reporter
The National Press Club president thanked the two candidates vying to become Afghanistan's next president for separately pledging to rescind the current government's expulsion of New York Times reporter Matt Rosenberg. Afghan officials ordered Rosenberg on Aug. 20 to leave the country and not return, and he left the following day. National Press Club offers flu shots to staff, members, guests, Oct. 15
The National Press Club Fitness Center plans to sponsor flu shots on Oct. 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Bloomberg Room. The cost is $25 per person. Staff, members and their guest are welcome. Medicare Part B will be accepted. Sign-up is available at the NPC Front Desk and in the Fitness Center.
