Renowned investigative reporter Seymour Hersh to highlight Silver Owls Hoot, Nov. 15
Seymour Hersh, the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter who first wrote about the 1968 My Lai massacre in Vietnam, and the 2004 physical and sexual abuse of prisoners at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, plans to discuss the current state of American journalism at the Silver Owls Fall Hoot on Friday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. in the National Press Club Ballroom. 5th James W. Foley Freedom Run set for Oct. 20
Join the National Press Club to participate in the fifth annual James W. Foley Freedom Run in Washington, an event to raise both awareness and funding for journalists' safety, including education and advocacy efforts. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in Rock Creek Park Grove 1. Gerald Lynn Bostock, the plaintiff named in the case of BOSTOCK v. CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA, was fired from his job as a county child welfare services coordinator when his employer learned he joined a gay recreational softball league. Bostock and his attorneys Brian J. Sutherland and Thomas J. Mew, IV discussed their case at a National Press Club Newsmaker event immediately following oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Policy Toward Haiti
Ms. Krabacher talked about the organization she co-founded, the Foundation for Worldwide Mercy and Sharing. The foundation runs a number of orphanages and schools in Haiti, serving more than 1800 children. Slides were shown throughout the presentation. Ms. Krabacher also discussed her trip to Haiti during the recent uprising. Following prepared remarks, she responded to questions from the audience.
