World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevêdo spoke at a National Press Club Speakers luncheon on Friday, Oct. 7. Azevêdo became the sixth Director-General of the WTO in September 2013. In a statement, the WTO said that world trade will grow more slowly than expected in 2016. Azevêdo said the forecast is “serious and should serve as a wake-up call.” He called it “particularly concerning in the context of growing anti-globalization sentiment.”
