Former presidential candidates George McGovern and Bob Dole and former seminary president Donald Messer spoke at the release of their book Ending Hunger Now: A Challenge to Persons of Faith, published by Fortress Press. The authors said that hunger is not just a problem for politicians but that all have an ethical and moral obligation to help people who are suffering. They also discussed how religious groups should draw on their own convictions and become more involved to help end world hunger. In 2012, Austin Tice -- a Georgetown University alumnus, freelance journalist, and veteran captain of the U.S. Marine Corps from Houston, Texas -- traveled to Syria to report on the unfolding crisis for McClatchy News, The Washington Post, and other publications.
