Do you know? Free parking is available to members who dine at the Club
All members of the National Press Club receive complimentary evening and weekend parking at the PMI garage on G Street NW when they dine at the NPC's Reliable Source or Fourth Estate restaurants. Members who are using any of the other Club facilities at night or on Saturday can purchase a discounted parking sticker for $5 at the front desk. Complimentary and discounted parking is available starting at 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday. The parking sticker will not be valid if you park anytime before 5 on weekdays. Award-winning sports photographer to address Photography Committee
Chris Bernacchi, an award-winning sports photographer, will speak at a luncheon meeting of the Club's Photography Committee at noon, Wednesday, May 30, in the McClendon Room. Bernacchi will discuss photos based on his wide-ranging sports work, as well as selected images from his architecture, environmental portrait, and documentary photo essay portfolios. Bernacchi is a frequent contributor to Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, and Pro Football Weekly. "Crock" comic strip ending; author's drawings hang on Reliable Source wall
After more than 37 years, the "Crock" comic strip by Bill Rechin -- and, for a year, by his son and son-in-law -- came to an end on Sunday, May 20. Rechin was a great friend of the National Press Club, along with his writing partner, Don Wilder. When the club was being renovated in the early 1980s, Rechin drew the oversize cartoons that still hang in the Reliable Source. He did them as a way of boosting the spirits of club members who were forced to make their way through rubble and artificial barriers to get to the bar and dining room.
