Actor Richard Dreyfuss Discusses Political Civility, 10 am Jan. 25
Actor and political activist Richard Dreyfuss will discuss "civility" and how an informed electorate can better engage in political dialogue at a Newsmaker at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25. Dreyfuss will outline the civics education program he has launched through the Dreyfuss Initiative. He will discuss the political climate and challenge journalists to be “the real Fourth Estate” of government. Iran Photo Exhibition Opens, 6 pm Jan. 21
Marking the 30th anniversary of the release of American Embassy hostages in Iran, an exhibition of photos by Peter Bregg focusing on developments in Iran during the 444 days that the hostages were held will be on display in the Club lobby from Jan. 21 through Feb. 4. The 35 images reflect a haunting look back at events and personalities that marked the seizure of the embassy. Annual Membership Meeting, Noon Jan. 21
The annual membership meeting of the National Press Club will be in the conference rooms at noon Friday, Jan. 21, when Mark Hamrick will take office as the Club's 104th president. Outgoing President Alan Bjerga and other officers will review the Club's operations of the past year including developments since the autumn membership meeting on Oct. 8.
