5K race set for June 9; volunteers needed
The National Press Club's 15th annual Beat the Deadline 5K race is scheduled for Saturday, June 9. The the organizing committee is seeking volunteers to help plan one of the Club’s most exciting events. Please join the 5K Committee at a meeting on Monday, March 19, at 1 p.m. on the Club's 14th-floor mezzanine to discuss how you help. Last year’s race, which featured fitness guru Tony Horton of P90X and Suzanne Malveaux of CNN as official race marshals, raised close to $50,000. Batters up! NPC coed softball team seeks players
The National Press Club's official softball team is gearing up for another season in the Metropolitan Media Softball League, Washington, D.C.'s only league from print and broadcast organizations. The season begins on April 21. Games are played on Saturday mornings in the Wheaton area of Montgomery County. No rinky-dink course for NPC's Journalism Institute's inaugural golf tourney April 20
Participants in the National Press Club Journalism Institute's inaugural golf tournament on Friday, April 20, will have an opportunity to play on one of the top-ranked courses in the area. The event will be held at the Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, Md., an Arnold Palmer-designed course that was ranked No. 7 in the Mid-Atlantic region last year by Golf Digest magazine. National Press Club, Other Groups Urge Pentagon to Allow Sunshine on Wikileaks Court Martial
The National Press Club and 46 other journalism organizations joined in a letter Monday to the Pentagon urging greater openness in its court martial proceedings in general and particularly in the case of Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of releasing classified information to the Wikileaks organization.
