NPC Member Sarah Gray and colleague Rachel Crowell co-wrote a speech that won the 2012 Cicero Speechwriting Award for Best-Written Speech by a non-profit organization. The Cicero Speechwriting Awards honor speechwriters for their contribution to the public conversation. Judged by experts in communication and rhetoric, the Cicero Speechwriting Awards celebrate all aspects of an unforgettable speech: style, substance, coherence and humanity. Runners mark your calendars: Beat the Deadline 5K on June 9
Runners, take your mark _ or at least mark it on your calendars: The NPC's BEAT THE DEADLINE 5K will be run Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 a.m. The 5K committee is seeking race day volunteers and donations. The race, which is in its 15th year, will once again start in front of the National Press Club and will conclude with a pancake breakfast in the Club's ballroom. Early bird tickets, available until May 30, cost is $25 for NPC Members and students and $30 for the general public. After May 30, advance race registration costs $35. Republican lawmakers say Pakistan tramples Balochistan, supplies Taliban
Pakistan suppresses the rights of people in its Balochistan province and supports enemies of the United States, three Republican congressmen said Tuesday at a Newsmaker press conference. Republican Reps. Dana Rohrabacher of California, Louis Gohmert of Texas and Steve King of Iowa co-sponsored a resolution in the House that calls for self-determination for Balochistan. Gohmert accused Pakistan of supplying the Taliban through Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan.
