5 Bourbons Featured at Oct. 26 Dinner; $85 for Members
Five bourbons will be served with a five-course meal and reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant. The cost is $85 for members, $110 for non-members. Trey Zoeller, founder of McLain and Kyne, known for its “Very Small Batch” bourbons, will discuss the featured bourbons. ISO Volunteers for Nov. 9 Book Fair
About 40 NPC members are needed to volunteer at the Book Fair and Authors' Night Tuesday, Nov. 9. Volunteers must be available for a 90-minute shift between 5 and 8:30 p.m. A few will be assigned to be stationed at the doors or to direct people from the elevators. Others will be assigned to assist authors. Nominations Open for NPC Elections
While the country is focused on the midterm elections, NPC members can participate in the annual Club elections on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. Nominations have begun for this year’s races, and members can sign the candidates’ nominating petitions on the tables in the alcove outside the president’s office. Air Force Chief Sees Continuing Flat Defense Budgets
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said his service must take a "selective and incremental" approach to modernizing in a world of uncertain future threats and defense budgets that will continue to flatten. He spoke at an Oct. 12 luncheon. He foresaw stop gaps where necessary and next generation systems where possible. Members Approve Constitution, Bylaws Changes
National Press Club members at the Oct. 8 membership committee meeting approved unanimously by voice vote membership category changes, including renaming the categories. The former Active category members are now Journalist members, and former Affiliate and Associate members are now Communicators.
