5 Bourbons, 5 Courses, $85; Reservations Open for Oct. 26 Dinner
Five bourbons will be served with a five-course meal and reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant. The cost is $85 for members, $110 for non-members. Trey Zoeller, founder of McLain and Kyne, known for its “Very Small Batch” bourbons, will discuss the featured bourbons. Fiction Authors, Chefs Among Writers at Nov. 9 Book Fair
Cassandra Clare, author of the best-selling young adult series, “The Mortal Instruments,” will be a featured fiction author, and chefs Geoff Tracy and Spike Mendelsohn are among the top cookbook authors who will participate in the Book Fair from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9. Admission to the Club's 33rd annual Book Fair and Authors' Night is free for NPC members, $5 for non-members. Club Has 'Very Good' September, Strong Financial Outlook
The National Press Club had its second best month of the year in September, with revenue of $1.35 million, just $29,000 below the record Juneperformance. "This was a very good month," Executive Director Bill McCarren said in his report to the Board of Governors Oct. 18. He said the September revenue was $150,000 ahead of a year ago and $100,000 ahead of the revenue that had been budgeted for the month. Paul Rodriguez of Burson-Marsteller will lead a discussion on best practices in media relations and how to be a good source for reporters at noon, Thursday, Oct. 21, in the McClendon Room. NPC President and Bloomberg reporter Alan Bjerga will address students, interns and others involved with the Washington Programs Consortium at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, in the First Amendment Lounge.
