Library of Congress adds Club member Foley's photos to collection
The Library of Congress collection now includes more than 100 photos taken in Afghanistan and Pakistan by Photo Committee Vice Chair Michael Foley. Carol Johnson, Library of Congress photography curator, accepted the final photos on Nov. 21. The Library chose the photos after Foley met Johnson at the June 29 Photo Committee luncheon meeting. “It is such a great honor for me that the Library has accepted my offer,” Foley said. “I regard my photos as messages, and even gifts, from the people I meet on my travels, so I put great value on the public being able to view them.” Foley says he can’t…

Candidates agree politely in rare three-way Club debate
Polite agreement characterized a rare three-way debate among candidates for National Press Club president Nov. 28. National Press Club calls on India to investigate attacks on reporters
The National Press Club called on Nov. 28 for the Indian government to investigate charges that reporters were beaten in Indian-controlled Kashmir and to prevent such attacks from happening again. The Associated Press reported that four journalists were beaten while covering a protest in that region on Nov. 25. One of them, Umar Meraj, an AP cameraman, said he was attacked with rifle butts, batons, fists and kicks. Club election absentee ballots now available
Absentee ballot requests are now being accepted for the Dec. 9 National Press Club election. Requests for absentee ballots may be made in person at the library, by fax to Nicole Hoffman at 202-879-6785 or by phone to Hoffman at 202-662-7523. Please do not leave ballot requests on voice mail. Absentee ballots will be sent to the member's address of record. All absentee ballots must be returned by 6 p.m. ET on Dec. 9 to be counted.

Absentee ballots now available for Club election
Absentee ballots are available as of today, Nov. 28, in the National Press Club library. Contact Nicole Hoffman (202-662-7523)to request an absentee ballot. The last day absentee ballots can be mailed to eligible voting members is Friday, Dec. 2. No further mailed requests will be accepted after 6 p.m. on Dec. 2. In-office requests will be received during normal business hours until Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. The election will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, in the Zenger Room. Club joins call for Supreme Court to broadcast health care argument
The National Press Club joined with numerous other media groups in asking U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. to allow audio and video recordings of oral arguments in three health care law cases. ``The American public's access to affordable health care is among the most significant issues to inform public debate in this country and to come before its highest Court in many years,'' states the letter to Roberts.
