Among the topics he addressed were global warming, international efforts to address climate change, and the impact of U.S. withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol. He also talked about the impact of environmental policy on world poverty, scientific research into environmental problems, and development of alternate power sources. In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the National Press Club will be closed tomorrow, July 3. When it resumes operations Monday, July 6, Club members and guests will to be able to eat and drink in the Reliable Source restaurant, which reopened June 23 under Phase 2 of the coronavirus pandemic rules issued by the District of Columbia. Club postpones Night Out for Austin Tice
The National Press Club announced yesterday that this year's national Night Out For Austin Tice, originally set for July 14, will be postponed until further notice amid concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tice, an award-winning journalist, was working for McClatchy and The Washington Post when he was detained in Syria in 2012. He is a Georgetown University graduate, a native Houstonian, and a U.S. Marine who served three tours of duty.
