The Middle East is becoming increasingly dangerous for journalists, and in this edition of Update-1 we hear from a correspondent who risks her life to tell stories from that region. New Name for History Committee
The History and Heritage Committee is the new name of the Club committee that deals with collecting, preserving and publicizing NPC history. A change from History Committee was approved last week by President Alan Bjerga and reflects the committee's intention to do more than perform oral history interviews. On the drawing board are programs to remember the 25th anniversary of the merger of the NPC and the Washington Press Club and the reopening of the reconstruction National Press Building. A session for newsroom managers whose staffs are covering the earthquake and aftermath in Haiti will be conducted from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2.
