Andrew Price, 43 Years on NPC Staff
Veteran waiter Andrew Price reached a 43-year milestone at the Club this week. He has served meals to kings and presidents and movie stars, but what Price likes to do most is feed the media. "He picked the right job when he showed up for work one hot August day 43 years ago," Executive Director Bill McCarren said. "He has been with us ever since. Deadline to Submit Entries for Members' Photo Exhibit is Aug. 20
Entries are due by Friday, Aug. 20, for the NPC Members' Photography Exhibition. Photos may be dropped off in the NPC Membership Office beginning Monday, Aug. 9. Each member may submit up to four photos. The exhibit, sponsored by the Photography Committee, is open to all NPC members and is not juried. Photos will be on display through September. Golden Owl Ann Ewing Dies
Ann E. Ewing, 89, a Club member since 1952, died July 24. The Washington Post obituary described her as a journalist who specialized in writing about science and who is thought to be the first to report on so-called black holes. Ms. Ewing wrote from the late 1940s to the late 1960s for Science News, a publication of the Society for Science and the Public. Her specialties included astronomy, physics and medicine. Fiction Writers Group Meets at 1 pm Aug. 5
The first meeting of the NPC Fiction Writers Group is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, in the Reliable Source Restaurant.
