Thad Allen to Discuss Oil Spill, 11 am Aug. 20
Adm. Thad Allen will give an overview of the response to the BP oil spill at a Newsmaker press conference at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20. Allen, the federal official charged with overseeing the cleanup, is the former commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. He will answer questions about the impact of the spill, BP's response and what tasks still remain. BP recently capped the leaking well, which spewed more than 4.1 million barrels of oil into the Gulf, but the clean up continues. A sponsor of the 5K run/walk, Neurology and Headache Treatment Center, is in search of participants in a migraine study. If you suffer with recurring migraines, you are invited to volunteer for a clinical study involving 4,500 women who suffer from migraine headaches. The study will research the safety, effect and tolerability of an investigational drug for migraines in women.
