The annual election for the Board of Governors and officers will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 (the second Friday of December as per the Constitution, Article IV, Section 3). Fight Against World Hunger Making Progress, UN Exec Says
“The solution to hunger is not quite rocket science,” the head of the world’s largest humanitarian organization leading the fight against world hunger said at a Sept. 29 luncheon. “Many nations have defeated hunger, and it doesn’t require some great new scientific breakthrough like discovering a cure for cancer. Former Journalist Wins 'Genius' Grant
Last year I hosted an NPC Luncheon with David Simon, former journalist and creator of groundbreaking television like "Homicide," "The Wire" and "Treme." A one-time reporter at the Baltimore Sun, Simon spoke about the news business and how it prepared him for a career in television drama. To listen to some of what he said, click here. Five bourbons will be served with a five-course meal and reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant. The cost is $85 for members, $110 for non-members.
