Veterans, Artists to Introduce Film on WWII African-American Soldiers 10 am Oct. 29
Veterans and producers and writers of a documentary chronicling the contributions of African American soldiers in World War II will preview the film at a Newsmaker at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Holeman Lounge. "Choc'late Soldiers from the USA" is an untold story of African-American soldiers in wartime England, a place where many of them, for the first time, experience equality and what it was truly like to be an American. Rutherford Wine Dinner Nov. 4; $70 for Members
Rutherford Wine Co. wines will be featured at a Fourth Estate Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Tickets are $70 for members and their guests, $93 for non-members. The event includes a reception and five-course dinner with five featured wines. The reception will kick off at 6:30pm with a Rutherford Ranch Sauvignon Blanc and passed hor d'eouvres. Wine Tasting Raises $4,250 for Library
A wine tasting sponsored by the National Press Club, William-Harrison Imports and Bell Wine & Spirits raised $4,250 for the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. More than 400 people sampled wines from France, Spain and Argentina and snacked on tapas, bruschetta and cheese at the Oct. 23 event.

Dozens Get Political Tips From Workshop
Close to 50 people braved cold, driving rain and snarled downtown traffic to attend the Oct. 17 "Political Reporting: The Ins and Outs of Washington" at the National Press Club. The daylong political reporting workshop, sponsored jointly by the NPC Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library's Professional Development Committee and the Regional Reporters Association, featured panels exploring how to ferret out a good political scoop, strategies for covering Congress, tools for tracking money in politics and previews of 2010 House and Senate races. Club Receives Pulitzer-Winning Photos of Reagan Assassination Attempt
NPC President Donna Leinwand accepted a trilogy of Pulitzer Prize-winning photos of the 1981 Reagan assassination attempt taken by Ron Edmonds, who donated the photos to the Club at an Oct. 28 meeting of the Photography Committee. Edmonds retired recently as AP senior White House photographer. His photos will be hung with the Club's growing collection of Pulitzer-winning photography.
