Member's short film to screen at B.B.King Museum
True Delta, a blues-inspired short film based on an original concept by CBS News writer/reporter and Club Member Erickson Blakney will be shown at the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, Miss., on Aug. 10. The film explores the colorful world of Mississippi Delta Blues and its impact on the cultural, economic and religious life of the region.

Documentary chronicling Kenyan woman's struggles, triumphs to be screened Aug. 29
The inspiring story of social entrepreneur Anne Okelo, a Kenyan woman who changed the lives of a generations of girls and women in her home country, will be screened on Wednesday, Aug. 29. “Well of Dreams: The Journey of Anne Okelo," will begin at 6 p.m. in the First Amendment Lounge and will be followed by a panel discussion with the film’s creators. Wexler publishes first book on journalism in crisis
National Press Club Member Celia Wexler has published her first book, "Out of the News: Former Journalists Discuss a Profession in Crisis." The book has many NPC ties, including a mention of the Reliable Source, where she spent many hours interviewing her subjects, Wexler said. The 11 journalists profiled, who worked at news organizations including The Washington Post, New York Times and CNN, "have led rich lives and have much to say about journalism, its past, present and future," Wexler said. Tom Young's novels attempt to portray reality of military service
The protagonists of his three novels, Michael Parson and Sophia Gold, are based on components of real people he encountered serving in Afghanistan and Iraq with the Air National Guard, author Tom Young told a National Press Club audience at his July 24 book rap. A former editor and writer with the broadcast division of the Associated Press for 10 years, Young made the transition from journalist to novelist.
