Friday last day to sign nomination petitions for 2013 officers, board
Nominations will close at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 26, for all five officer positions as well as four Journalist board members and one Communicator member. Journalists sign petitions for Journalist positions, including club officers, and Communicators sign for Communicator positions. Dorothy Ing Russell, 84, trail-blazing Asian-American journalist, dies
Dorothy Diana Ing Russell, reputedly the first Asian-American journalist to work for The Washington Post and a Club member for 39 years, died Oct. 19 at a Maryland hospice. Russell, who lived in Chevy Chase, Md, was 84. In addition to a 40-year career as a foreign correspondent, reporter and copy editor, Russell was a co-founder and first treasurer of the Washington chapter of the Asian- American Journalists Association (AAJA). Art exhibit added to South African Night honoring Nelson Mandela legacy, Oct 30
The South African Night on the "Life, Legacy and Values of Nelson Mandela" at the Club from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, has been expanded to include a major art exhibit exploring South Africa's artistic culture. The exhibit of more than 20 art works by both emerging and established South African artists will include an iconic lithograph by Chris Ledochowski of Mandela¹s first public speech, delivered in Cape Town after he was released from prison in 1990.
