The National Press Club’s Membership Committee, an invitation-only panel that reviews Club applications, is seeking new members ahead of its March 4 meeting. The committee is seeking some experienced NPC members to join its ranks and to help with the important duty of making sure applicants meet the Club's membership criteria. Such reviews are critical to maintaining club standards as well as the value and reputation of membership. Club offers tour of facilities to current and potential freelancer members March 7, 4 p.m.
The National Press Club's Freelance Committee and History Committee are partnering to offer a tour of the Club to current and potential freelance members on March 7 at 4 p.m. The tour, conducted by Past-president Gil Klein, will cover the Club's storied past, view the broadcast and working journalist facilities, and include a discussion of the features that make the Club so attractive to freelancers. 5 NPC female past presidents to speak at Women's History Month panel March 1, 6 p.m.
On March 1 at 6 p.m., in the the Holeman Lounge, the National Press Club will celebrate Women's History Month with a panel discussion by five of the Club's female past-presidents. The panel discussion will be moderated by 2012 NPC President Theresa Werner and will include Vivian Vahlberg (1982), Kay Vose (1991), Sylvia Smith (2008) and Donna Leinwand Leger (2009). Reception to celebrate women's suffrage centennial Feb. 28, 6 p.m.
One hundred years ago, suffragist Alice Paul and about 8,000 marchers from every state in the nation and every country where women had the vote led the historic women's suffrage procession down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington to the White House. Two former Israeli, Palestinian enemies tell how they became 'brothers' for peace
Two men who fought on opposite sides of the Israel-Palestinian conflict described at a Feb. 25 National Press Club Newsmaker press conference how, after each lost a daughter in the fighting, they decided to put down their arms and work for peace. United Nations Foundation leader to address Club luncheon, March 20
Kathy Calvin, president and CEO of the United Nations Foundation, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, March 20 as part of the Club's recognition of Women's History Month. Calvin has been chief executive of the organization since 2009 and took on the additional role of president this year. The foundation spent $110 million on programs and services last year. Maine lobsters -- but not Maine's winter -- coming to Fourth Estate, Feb. 27
A bit of Maine will arrive at the Fourth Estate restaurant Wednesday, Feb. 27. But fortunately it will be Maine's prized product -- succulent lobsters -- not the state's winter weather (unusually brutal recently) that will make an appearance.
