Celebrate Cherry Blossoms and all the rites of spring at Lobster Night from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at The Fourth Estate restaurant. The menu will feature steamed 1 ¼ pound Maine Lobsters with coleslaw (or salad) and choice of French Fries or oven-crisped new potatoes. The cost is $25 for Club members and $30 for non-members. Poof! Magicians will appear, 7 pm April 17
Five close-up magicians will entertain National Press Club members and guests at a free, family friendly magic show at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the conference rooms. The breaking news award in the National Press Club journalism contest recognizes excellence in reporting on quickly unfolding events -- with competitions for print/online and broadcast. Entries will be judged for quality of reporting, speed and innovation. UN Foundation leader promotes empowering adolescent girls to combat global poverty
Investing in adolescent girls is the key to alleviating global poverty, United Nations Foundation President and chief executive Kathy Calvin told a National Press Club luncheon on March 20. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe headlines April 19 luncheon
Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe will discuss challenges of meeting the evolving demands of the nation's postal system and the upcoming changes to Saturday delivery at a National Press Club luncheon on Friday, April 19. Donahoe, the 73rd postmaster general and chief executive of the world’s largest postal organization, announced in February that the postal service would end Saturday mail delivery to cut costs. Syrian opposition leaders outline plans to oust Assad
Two members of the Syrian opposition to President Bashar al-Assad told a March 19 Newsmaker audience that Assad's enemies should "focus on his power and not his personality" in trying to remove him from office. Rim Turkmani, an astrophysicist, and physician Haytham Manna said a common goal of Assad's opponents is "to take the power out of his hands and put it in the hands of the collective good."
