Deadline fast approaching: Members’ exhibit photos due Aug. 3-14
The deadline is fast approaching for members to submit their best shots for the 16th Annual National Press Club Members’ Photo Exhibit. Photos are due in the Club’s Membership Office, beginning Monday, Aug. 3. The last time to submit photos is close of business Friday, Aug. 14. Each member may submit up to four photos. Each photo may not exceed 11 x 14” (print and mat), and all photos must be securely mounted and matted. Crab Fest Set for Thurs., July 30
By member request the annual National Press Club crab fest buffet comes back on Thursday, July 30 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Reliable Source. Members and their guests are invited to sample the crabs at this summer fun time. What a great way to celebrate summer 2015! The Crab fest is $40 per person for members and $50 for nonmembers plus tax and gratuity. Reservations, using this link, are encouraged because this event has sold out in the past. Learn how to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship this Saturday
Reporters will have the opportunity on Saturday, July 11 to get hands-on training in the use of Tails, a live operating system that can be used to conduct reporting without fear of electronic surveillance. The six-hour instructional class in Tails wraps up the National Press Club Journalism Institute and NPC's Press Freedom Committee's three-part course on encryption skills for reporters. Chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carol L. Folt, will discuss the importance of preserving accessibility to an affordable college degree at a National Press Club Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
