Douglas P. Baldwin, NPC member for 53 years, died January 2
Douglas P. Baldwin, an international media consultant and a 53-year member of the National Press Club, died Jan. 2 in Snohomish, Washington. He was 79. His wife Janet said membership in the NPC was "a perfect fit" for her husband of 55 years because "it helped him shine where he needed to shine" -- as a press secretary for members of Congress, a spokesman for federal agencies and an media consultant. The National Press Club was the only suitable place for the debut of the book by former Senate leaders Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota, and Trent Lott, R-Mississippi, Lott told a Press Club Book Rap on January 19. Washington Post newsroom tour on Jan. 21 exclusively for NPC members
The Events Committee has scheduled a tour of the new Washington Post newsroom on Thursday, January 21, for NPC members only. The tour will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Members will see the newsroom for the first half-hour, and then attend the story conference meeting that will demonstrate the Post’s digital responsiveness. There is no cost for the tour, but it is limited to a maximum of 20 people. Registration is first come – first served. Interested members may register here.
