Kennedy Library Symposium was part of a series on the press and public policy sponsored by the foundation in collaboration with each of the presidential libraries and the press club.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to deliver major speech at Sept. 2 luncheon
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will deliver a major speech entitled “Lessons from the New South” at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Haley is the youngest governor in the country and the first female and first minority governor in South Carolina history. Last year she was re-elected by the largest margin of victory for a South Carolina gubernatorial candidate in 24 years. NPC urges Kerry to focus on press freedom in Cuba
The National Press Club on Wednesday called on Secretary of State John Kerry to make press freedom and the expansion of Internet access in Cuba a priority in his department’s engagements with the Castro regime. The secretary will become the highest-ranking U.S. official in decades to visit Cuba when he travels to the Caribbean nation on Friday, Aug. 14 to take part in the ceremonial re-opening of the U.S. embassy in Havana. Racism 'eating away at the fiber of this country,' says AME bishop at luncheon
Racism is “eating away at the fiber of this country,” and the only remedy is spiritual renewal, said Rev. John Richard Bryant, a senior bishop at African Methodist Episcopal Church, at an Aug. 12 National Press Club luncheon. Bryant’s remarks on racism and gun violence came two months after an AME church in Charleston, S.C., was the scene of a horrific hate crime.
