Gerald R. Ford Journalism Awards
The former president presented the third annual Gerald R. Ford Prizes for distinguished reporting. Gerald Seib, White House reporter for the Wall Street Journal, received the Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency. Debra Lynn Polsky, special assignment reporter for Defense News, received the Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense. His remarks focused on Lithuania and the recent U.S.-Soviet summit.

Three members of the Roman Catholic hierarchy sought to prepare the way for Pope Francis' U.S. visit by telling a National Press Club Newsmaker Wednesday the papal encyclical on climate change had the human face of some of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people. Public support, political will needed for Mars mission, astronauts say
NASA expects to send humans to Mars within the next two decades, but it can only do so with the green light from Congress and the White House, astronauts told a breakfast crowd at the National Press Club Monday.
